Dear Tenant Community,
We recognize this is a very difficult time for many. Please know that the Aboriginal Housing Society of Prince George (AHSPG) team is working around the clock to support you. We are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and taking steps to protect the health and safety of our tenant households, and to ensure our tenants have stable homes during this uncertain time.
If you are having difficulties paying your rent, or require other supports during this difficult time, please reach out to us at 250-564-9794, and let us know the purpose of your call. We are returning calls daily.
VISITORS entering your building or home:
Please use h and sanitizer and stay out of common areas as much as possible. Social distancing and self-isolation are critical to stopping infection and spread of COVID-19.
We each have a responsibility to help stop the spread of COVID-19. It is critical that you limit any non-essential guests or visitors into your home. We underst and that many visitors are dropping off groceries and providing much needed care. We do ask that you please follow the COVID-19 protocols and practices of social distancing, and self-isolation – these practices are essential to ending the spread of COVID-19.
IF YOU SUSPECT YOU MAY HAVE COVID-19…
Immediately call 8-1-1 or 250-565-2612 to access health information, services and directions. Also, please inform us at 250-564-9794. We want to know that you are safe, getting the supports you need, and are able to isolate yourself from other household or building occupants.
We have a duty to help in any way needed to ensure you can be isolated.
Tenant Rent Payments
Please note: All tenants continue to be responsible for paying rent. While there is a temporary hold on evictions for non-payment during the COVID-19 outbreak, any rents not paid now, remain due and are still payable.
- If your income has not changed, your rent is due in full on the first of the month
- If your income HAS changed, you may be eligible for one of the current programs:
- The new BC Temporary Rental Supplement (BC-TRS) program announced recently for renters experiencing income loss, applies to renters that are not receiving any type of rental subsidy. - The Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) is available to anyone that has lost employment temporarily due to COVID. For more information and to apply, go to https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/benefits/apply-for-cerb-with-cra.html
